Will Yeast Infections Stop Me from Using Tampons?

by Linda Allen

If I have yeast infection can I still use tampons? My customers often ask me this. Although there is variation amongst specialists who comment on this problem, there is also a lot of information indicating a negative link between this problem and the use of tampons. In some articles in popular medical journals , tampons were even blamed as the cause of yeast infections.

However, it is a fact that tampons cannot be the cause of yeast infection. The agent behind this ailment, also known as candidiasis or candida infection, is the Candida microorganism that multiplies out of bounds. Candida are microscopic elements that live naturally in a human body that is healthy, but that are kept in check by the beneficial bacteria living in our bodies which help us to digest food and to defend ourselves from other bacteria, parasites or viruses. Yet in certain circumstances, which include pregnancy, antibiotics, diabetes and other conditions that sap the immune system, Candida seizes the opportunity to over grow. Candida then penetrates the blood circulation and moves around to various parts of the body, generating the symptoms of candidiasis.

The fundamental causes of Candida are complicated and multidimensional. However, even if they are not limited to using any kind of toiletries, tampons that are scented, or use of scented soaps or feminine-hygiene sprays can all contribute to aggravating yeast infection of the vagina. Here are the reasons:

1. Scented tampons are recognized to be allergenic. A weak immune system will not be able to prevent Candida overgrowth in this case.

2. Scented toiletries can also alter the acidity of the vagina making it more acid and stimulating candidiasis. The right ratio of negatively charged ions (alkaline) and positively charged ions (acid) must be observed. If the balance is upset, then health problems will follow.

It is for these reasons, that soaps and products such as tampons, pants, panty liners, sentry plants or toilet paper should always be chosen as unscented, organic where possible and at least hypoallergenic where available.

You should also remember that just avoiding such scented tampons or toiletries is not enough to prevent all yeast infection. The essential thing is to find natural alternatives to these while remembering that this is only a small part of what should be a full holistic treatment.

A comprehensive all-natural holistic agenda is the only real solution to curing the inner and outer problems of the yeast infection and for permanently eradicating Candida. Did you hear the news? Your candida infection which might be causing you pain and distress can now be permanently treated with a holistic all-natural treatment.
