Is it OK to Use Tampons with Yeast Infection?

by Linda Allen

If I have yeast infection must I stop using tampons? My customers ask me this question a lot. Tampons have even been blamed as the “reason” for the yeast infections in some popular medical articles. There is considerable information circulating which supports a negative link between tampons and the problem of yeast infections, even if specialists have a widely varying opinion on the topic.

It is important to know about Candida as the microscopic organisms that live naturally in the human body and which are kept in check by beneficial probiotics. This system helps to digest food and defend our bodies against other bacteria, viruses and such parasites. Tampons do not cause yeast infection as might be suggested. The cause is what is called candidiasis or candida infection and it is the candida microbe which multiplies without limit. In certain circumstances including pregnancy, diabetes, use of antibiotics and other conditions that attack the immune system, Candida takes the chance to multiply. It then invades the blood circulation, circulating to different areas of the body, and provoking the candidiasis symptoms.

The fundamental causes of Candida are complicated and multidimensional. However, even if they are not limited to using any kind of toiletries, tampons that are scented, or use of scented soaps or feminine-hygiene sprays can all contribute to aggravating yeast infection of the vagina. Here are the reasons:

1. Scented tampons are recognized to be allergenic. A weak immune system will not be able to prevent Candida overgrowth in this case.

2. Scented toiletries can also alter the acidity of the vagina making it more acid and stimulating candidiasis. The right ratio of negatively charged ions (alkaline) and positively charged ions (acid) must be observed. If the balance is upset, then health problems will follow.

This then means that you have very good reasons to prefer unscented soaps, tampons, pants, panty liners, toilet paper or sanitary pads. Your choice should always be for organic products and hypoallergenic products wherever available.

Remember that it is not enough to prevent or cure yeast infection to just avoid the other kinds of tampons or toiletries. It is necessary to find natural alternatives to these toiletries which might cause allergies but this is only a minor element of the full holistic treatment.

Did anyone tell you that your candida infection that causes you pain and problems could be permanently treated using a comprehensive holistic program? With the neutralization of the components that cause internal and external yeast infection, you will be able to permanently eliminate Candida and regain your health and well being.
