Everyone uses hydraulics in every day life, one way or another. Most doors that don’t slam shut have a hydraulic tube at the top that stops the door from closing quickly. Fitness equipment is not any different. Many fitness machines use hydraulics to give you a smoother workout.
Fitness equipment mostly uses hydraulics for resistance and that is required when you are trying to improve your strength. When you are lifting free weights then gravity becomes your resistance and when you are rowing then your resistance is the water.
When you apply force on the fitness equipment then the hydraulic cylinders add the resistance to challenge your workout routine. Machines that use weights are a lot more difficult to move smoothly and when hydraulic cylinders are added to the equipment it is more challenging when you increase the force.
There are many benefits that people love about using hydraulic fitness equipment. First of all you are able to go more at your own pace than with regular weight equipment. Your muscles will also be less sore. This is a great benefit especially to children, seniors and women. In addition you never have to worry about lifting the weights on and off of the machine.
More and more gyms are switching over to using hydraulic exercise machines. This is because many different people with a variety of levels of fitness can exercise with the same equipment. Many gyms get a variety of machines that are specialized for a certain exercise such as leg extensions, arm curls, shoulder presses, hip adductors, rotary torsos and biceps, along with machines that specifically target certain muscle groups.
There are not many options for consumers when trying to purchase hydraulic fitness equipment for home use but there is one and it is a rowing machine. However, be aware that the quality of a home version is not as good as a regular rowing machine.
As with most types of equipment, there are a few negative aspects to the hydraulic fitness equipment. The movement of the machine may not be very smooth as with other exercise machines. This is more noticeable when your exercise involves a pushing or pulling movement. Serious athletes and body builders may find that their strength is far beyond what the resistance on a hydraulic can offer and, therefore, their workout is not as challenging. Also, for a home consumer, there is not much hydraulic fitness equipment to choose from and it is expensive.
If you are considering adding strength training to your exercise routine then you should consider using hydraulic fitness equipment to help you achieve your goals. If you want to use hydraulic equipment it is best to join a gym or fitness program that has these available. It can be quite expensive to buy pieces for your home and the options for home use are rather limited.
