There Goes the Neighborhood: The Good Samaritan Story

by Drs Bil & Cher Holton

(Luke 10:25-37)

As we researched for this article, we Googled the words “Good Samaritan” and the request brought us over 281,000 references of the Good Samaritan on the Internet. There were thousands of hospitals and medical centers named Good Samaritan, hundreds of Good Samaritan awards, scores of charitable trust funds named Good Samaritan, and a multitude of newspaper articles on Good Samaritan heroics and helpfulness. But what is the source of all these references?

Let’s take a peek at the Biblical Good Samaritan story, and then look at it metaphysically, to introduce the real main character to you. You may want to read the whole story before going with this article. When you’re finished, come on back. We’ll wait for you!

Let’s start by taking a look at a few specific verses from Luke 10:25-37, to provide some historical background.

* v27: The legal expert answers easily, citing the passages from the Torah (Deut 6:5 and Lev 19:18). He wanted to prove he was a student of the law that he was up on his Torah.

* v29: He desired Jesus’ approval to abide by the letter of the law and to restrict who he considered a neighbor. It would be like asking for permission not to help a member of a hate group who was injured (like a neo-Nazi or a clansman.) The Greek work for neighbor is plesion which is interpreted as “the close one.” It referred to people similar to you in social status, religious faith, ethnicity, etc. The lawyer hoped that’s what Jesus meant.

* v30: In this verse, the phrase “a certain man” derives from the Greek Word anthropostis, which means somebody/anyone. Jesus was not going to give the lawyer a way out. The road between Jericho and Jerusalem was dangerous and notorious for bandits. Jericho was below sea level.

* v32: The law was if a person touched a dead body or came into contact with the blood of someone unclean, they would be defiled for seven days and unable to carry out their assigned religious responsibilities.

* v33: The Jews hated the Samaritans. Samaritans were the descendants of those Jews who stayed in northern Israel after it was conquered by Assyria in the 8th Century B.C. They were uncircumcised, intermarried Gentiles, and refused to acknowledge the temple in Jerusalem.

* v37: The lawyer probably paused before he responded to Jesus’ question. He, like other Jews, detested the Samaritans so much he was unable to bring himself to say the word Samaritan. He said, “He that showed mercy.” And Jesus responded, “You got that right.” We’re paraphrasing, of course.

For Jesus, there were no untouchables in the Kingdom of God. And the point He wanted to get across to the lawyer - and to us - is to not let our religion take the place of our spirituality or compassion. If the only point of Jesus’ parable had been nothing more than promoting a sense of civility and goodwill, it would have been a good message. But it has a much deeper meaning. Let’s take a metaphysical look, so we can add a higher consciousness perspective to the story.

* Lawyer = our inclination to use the letter of the law to justify our behavior

* Injured Man (the main metaphysical character) = human consciousness; the thoughts, feelings, and actions in each of us

* Jerusalem = Heart-centered consciousness of peace and spirituality

* Jericho = Materially-focused desires which spring from the ego’s fears and selfishness

* Robbers = our selfish, destructive thoughts that deplete our body of its energy and vitality

* Priest and Levite = religious inclinations which fail to see the connection between the letter of the law and the spirit of the law

* Samaritan = the Christ of us

* Oil and wine = oil is love; wine is abundant life

* Inn = pure, receptive Divine thoughts

* Host = the Holy Spirit

* 2 denarii = the cost to us for reconnecting the human personality with Spirit

* Neighbor = our physical body and emotions which are impacted by our thoughts

The metaphysical implications of this parable are straightforward. When we decide to leave the peace and serenity of our spirituality (Jerusalem) and follow the temptations of our material sense consciousness (Jericho), we rob ourselves of our strength and vitality. Our error thinking can take us over dangerous emotional and physical ground, oftentimes resulting in life-threatening illnesses.

Our wholeness will be restored when we ramp up our consciousness (the Inn) and accept the wisdom and support that comes from our Christ Nature, which provides comfort through the Holy Spirit.

So you see the parable is not about the Samaritan at all. It is about all people.

* It is about our relationship with the Christ of us.

* It relates to our falling in and out of a state of grace.

* It reminds us of our awesome and unfailing connection to Spirit.

* It encourages us to have Christ thoughts in order to make Christ choices.

* And — it assures us that we shall be comforted.

Tourist Traps and Truth Walks: Part 2

by Drs Bil and Cher Holton

In Part 1 of this article, we recognized how we are all guilty of being lured by Tourist Traps - on vacations and on our Truth walks. No matter how disappointed you may be by your ventures with New Age products that are all hype and no substance, you can get something valuable from these adventures. Just try using three tips we’ve learned from our vacation tourist traps that will help you as you maneuver your way through the Tourist Traps in your Spiritual Journey.

Tip #1: Recognize Tourist Traps for What They Are!

There’s really nothing wrong with Tourist Traps ~ they are just being what they are supposed to be: created to separate you from your money in exchange for some kind of reminder of your trip. We are actually real suckers for tourist trap shops! But we’ve found over the years to know exactly our goals as we stroll through them. We usually go with the intent of simply enjoying the visit, with a strong intention NOT to buy anything. That way, we can enjoy the tacky stuff, ooh and ahh over the gorgeous but overpriced stuff, and totally ignore the outrageous junk. We can walk in and out without any judgment or guilt. After all, we realized it was a Tourist Trap when we went in! And some places that appear to be Tourist Traps can actually be a wonderful surprise once you get inside.

On your Spiritual Journey, it is important to be able to recognize Tourist Traps for what they are, as well. Occasionally they are so well disguised that they appear to be part of the journey, when in fact, they are the biggest traps of all. The only way to recognize Tourist Traps on our Spiritual journey is to have very clear goals! Create intentions that are clear and specific. Then, when distractions come along, the first question to always raise is, “This is interesting, but - How will this assist me in my journey toward this goal?” If it won’t, you are aware it’s just a Tourist Trap, dressed up like something spiritual!

Tip #2: Know your personal temptations!

It’s always interesting when you are with a tour group, to observe what people purchase! You look at some people’s souvenirs, and wonder what they were thinking! Of course, they may be thinking the same thing about your buys! We all have our own temptations! When we realize what our temptations are, we can be very focused when entering a Tourist Trap, to prevent impulse purchases.

Along our spiritual life journey, we have similar personal temptations those concepts that hook us before we realize it. Even Charles and Myrtle Fillmore (Unity’s founders) had to deal with this! Listen to what Myrtle admitted, as recorded in Torch-Bearer to Light the Way (pg. 7): “I had always reserved the right in the privacy of my own mind to judge if certain person’s lives accorded well with their professions. It is the hardest to overcome of all the errors I am trying to outgrow-to withhold judgment.”

Once we recognize what our particular spiritual tourist trap temptation is: negative thinking, gossip, judgment, spiritual “addiction” (going from one spiritual practice to another, always looking for the next emotional high); judging; etc. - then it is much easier to overcome it.

Start paying attention to what your tempters are; what is it that takes up your time, and creates an illusion of separation between you and Spirit? Pay attention, and then begin a campaign to refocus your thinking, and avoid those tempting Tourist Traps!

Tip #3: Be aware that sometimes you can actually discover a real gem in the midst of a Tourist Trap!

Truth be told, there are times we simply cannot avoid a Tourist Trap. We find ourselves put there, and just have to handle it. If we keep our eyes open, it is amazing incredible what we can discover! Here’s an example. We were with a tour group visiting the beautiful city of Pisa. After the initial group tour, everyone was on their own, with instructions to meet back up at a certain time, at a designated area. We finished up a bit early, and found ourselves waiting for the rest of the group. As you can imagine, there was a full-fledged, bigger-than-life Tourist Trap right at our designated meet area! We meandered in, recognizing it for what it was, and confirming our intention to avoid giving in to our temptations! We spotted a rickety old bookshelf covered with dusty touristy-type statuettes of the Leaning Tower, Moses, and other tourist spots. We were giggling over them, when we chanced to get a glimpse of color mixed in with the dust. Low and behold, we pulled out an amazing statue of dancers, going for about $10 American money! Of course, we walked out with this fabulous bargain!

As you find yourself trapped in situations you’d describe as Spiritual Tourist Traps, be on the lookout for the gem: the lesson you can take from it; the opportunity to practice a principle; the good you can make from it. Then you can leave feeling, as we did, that you got away with a deal, and grew spiritually in the midst of a land mine!

On this spiritual journey we call life, you are going to encounter all kinds of Tourist Traps, designed to create within you an illusion of separation from Spirit. Just recognize them for what they are, be very knowledgeable of your personal temptations, and always be on the lookout for the gems! We wish you safe and joyful travels!

Living a LINT-Free Life - Part 2

by Dr\’s Bil & Cher Holton

So - what fiery furnace are you living through? What “outward appearance” is attacking your belief system? The good news is each of us has within us the Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego qualities that, when strengthened, give us the power to stand firm in principle in the midst of the fiery furnace, and not only survive, but thrive!

Of course, the question is, how do we do that? We’d like to share a quick formula, with a very specific “How-To” thrown in.

1. Know your Truth! Know that you know that you know the Spiritual Truth of who and what you are. We call this the Abednego quality of spiritual understanding. It is one thing to repeat Truth statements; it is a totally different thing to KNOW and understand it. One of our Truth statements is “There is only one presence and one power in the universe and in my life and affairs: God the good, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent.” We say it - but do we really understand the meaning of it? Whenever we give power to outer appearances of poverty, or competition, or anger, or fear, or health challenges, we are creating a rift between ourselves and the Truth of what we know.

I am reminded of children reciting the Lord’s Prayer. These are things that I have actually heard! One child believed God’s name had to be Harold, because he always said, “Our Father who art in Heaven, Harold be thy name!”

Another updated the prayer by saying, “Leave us not in temptation, but deliver us some email!”

In our perception of the Truth principles, we encourage you to move beyond just saying Truth, and grow in your understanding so Truth becomes a part of your consciousness and manifests in your reality.

2. Recognize the LINT (Listless Impoverished Negative Thinking) and catch it as quickly as possible! How important is that? Consider a beautiful black wool suit, with one little teeny piece of lint. Where do your eyes go immediately? To the lint! It is identical in our consciousness.

Allow us to share the Parable of the LINT (not from the Bible) - from the Holton household we were facilitating a Prosperity class at another church, and were staying in church member’s home. We shared a nice breakfast in the sun room before leaving for the church. When we got to the church parking lot, we realized that Bil’s suit was covered with long white cat hairs! We had not even been aware of it before!

Go ahead and stretch the metaphor - we are often living smack in the middle of LINT (Listless Impoverished Negative Thinking). When we fail to recognize the source of it, it connects to us and becomes part of our consciousness and experience.

You become aware of the LINT by the way you are feeling (upset, irritable, frustrated, stressed); by what you are saying (negative focus, self critical); and/or by what is showing up in your life. Once you spot it, perform the GAP assessment (Here’s that specific “How-To” we advertised at the beginning of this article):

* Guilt-free, go from where you are. * Acknowledge the separation * Pray and meditate to close the gap and reconnect with Spirit.

3. Transform the LINT: Emerge from your prayer and meditation, ready to practice Truth principles in your life. Be proactive in living the Truth as you face the world of appearances, and look for ways to see things from a fresh perspective.

A good example of this is Cesar Lopez, a musician and composer from Bogota, Columbia. In USA Today, 04/19/06, you can read about how he created the escopetarra: an electric guitar he designs from shotguns collected by the police from scenes of violent crimes. One quote says, “the weapon is still present, but when you strike the first chord, everything that is violent about it disappears. That’s the kind of transformation we would like to see in our country.”

So-as you identify the LINT in your life - Listless Impoverished Negative Thinking -that separates you from the Truth of who you are, perform the GAP assessment. Then you can use your power to transform the LINT into a life of joy, prosperity, and unbelievable spiritual wisdom.

Lint-Free Living - Part 1

by Dr’s Bil & Cher Holton

This article is about lint-free living. L I N T - free living. It’s about moving past bothersome lint. Sometimes you have to pick it off or flick it off. Some people use a lint-free roller that has sticky paper which gets rid of the unwanted lint. Other people use Scotch Tape to lift lint off clothing. We’ve even seen people use clear packaging tape to dispose of lint.

Oftentimes one of your friends will remove a piece of lint from your clothing. (”Oh,” they say, “you’ve got a piece of lint there, I got it! It was a piece of lint.)

No one likes lint on his or her clothing. We are even going to ask you to stop picking lint off your clothing while you’re reading this article.

Seriously, though, all of this L I N T discussion is brought up to make a point. The L I N T - free living we are referring to is really an acronym which stands for Listless Impoverished Negative Thinking.

It’s the type of thinking that spoils our consciousness and soils our spiritual walk. It’s the kind of thinking that negates our goodness and conceals our Godness.

Listless Impoverished Negative Thinking comes from a consciousness of lack, fear, resentment, and discouragement. People who have PhD’s in this kind of LINT say things like:

“I can’t do that!”

“I’m not smart enough.”

“I’m too out of shape.”

“I’ve been a failure all of my life.”

“I don’t have anything of value to offer.”

“I don’t I can’t I’m not” Those people wear their LINT like a badge.

In its simplest form, Listless Impoverished Negative Thinking expresses itself as racism, sexism, violence, gossip, envy, and jealousy. These types of LINT are caustic. They embed themselves in the fabric of our consciousness and are extremely hard to extract.

Difficult — but not impossible! The Hebrew Testament story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego offers the formula for lint-free living. You may recall the story. It appears in the 3rd chapter of the book of Daniel in the Old Testament.

It is the account of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who are friends of Daniel. They refuse to worship the golden image of King Nebuchadnezzar, and are cast into a fiery furnace. In an amazing turn of events, they remain untouched by the fire, and they are joined in the furnace by a fourth person. When the king realizes they have not been consumed by the fire, he allows them to come out and places them in high positions of power.

From a Unity perspective, this is what the story means:

King Nebuchadnezzar represents a condescending ego

Nebuchadnezzar’s golden image signifies our egotistical, supercilious nature

Shadrach is that quality within us that represents humbleness

Meshach symbolizes an unfailing love for the truth

Abednego means a high degree of spiritual understanding

4th person denotes the Indwelling Christ

Fiery furnace is the all consuming, destructive power of negative thinking which impacts our life experiences

So what does the story mean for us? When we experience an intense, consuming negative outlook (the furnace), we tend to give power to outer appearances.

However, if we remember who we really are if we remain humble to the guidance of Spirit, stand solid in our unfailing love for truth, and seek a deeper understanding of principle, we will receive the help we need from the Christ of us, that uplifting Presence within us.

We don’t need to fear anything. We don’t need to bow to anyone or anything, or to any type of Listless Impoverished Negative Thinking. We are divine beings with phenomenal spiritual abilities and inner capacities that can empower us over any physical situation.

Highly Effective Chakra Cleansing Practices

by Anne-Marie Laureaut

Our body and our energy points are subject to various environmental influences, both positive and negative. It is therefore important that each individual responsible undertake effective chakra cleansing practices in order to maintain balance and harmony among our physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual aspects. This is necessary so that our chakras (energy systems) always function in unison with one another for a healthy and active lifestyle.

Following are some of the conventional chakra cleansing methods man uses for thousands of years:

1. Smudging with certain herbs and plants like white sage can clear certain types of negative energy obstacles in your energy points. Simply go inside a room with the door and windows closed and burn some white sage and let the smoke fill the room; remain in the room for a few minutes.

2. Auric brushing with the hands or the aid of gemstones and crystals is one of the highly effective chakra cleansing technique. Caution must be taken however that the practice should only be performed by a well-practiced individual since there is the possibility of serious damage rather than successful healing due to the inherent powers of the gemstones and crystals employed in the process.

3. Live healthy by eating the proper diet, drinking plenty of water and fruit juices coupled with regular sleep and rest should be an individual’s norm instead of maintaining a hectic daily schedule. A healthy lifestyle is highly recommended in order to preserve our energy systems.

4. Regular physical workouts and breathing exercises are very important to the maintenance of healthy and strong chakras. Aside from making the heart healthier, regular physical activity and proper breathing also ensures unrestricted blood flow to all parts of the body.

5. Relating with nature can have positive effects on your energy systems.

6. Since each individual colors have different vibrations that affect different elements of a person, you can effectively perform chakra cleansing by looking at real color or simply by visualizing them.

7. Listening to music also heals our energy system. Music is an effective chakra cleansing technique and can be used to activate our chakras, which in turn activate the entire endocrine system.

8. We should not tire of pursuing learning situations. In fact, it is highly recommended to continually pursue learning and intellectual challenges to keep us on our toes and keep our energy points active.

9. Deep contemplation for a few minutes on a regular basis is enough to allow us to realize and understand our thoughts and emotional feelings. It is a vital way of chakra cleansing technique because it makes us cognizant and receptive to everything around us.

10. Learn to love yourself. This is important so that you can also learn to love others around you. Feelings of love and appreciation releases chemicals that benefit our body and in the same way, feelings of anger also releases chemicals that affect us negatively.

11. An awareness of our feelings and emotions coupled with the ability to express them in a constructive manner to people around us is a very vital chakra cleansing and maintenance strategy. Restrained thoughts, feelings and emotions can invariably cause energy jams that can disturb our health and well being.

12. Being imaginative in our daily activities helps us maintain balance and harmony. Imagination and creativity is not the private realm of the arts as we can utilize it to make our activities more interesting!

13. Coming to terms with our past and having an appreciation of its meaning can provide us a deep understanding of our objective as a human being.

14. Maintaining sincerity and reliability in all facets of our lives keeps us healthy and righteous. Living a life anchored on moral values help make us more productive, creative and dependable, not only to ourselves but for others as well.

15. Prayer is also a central element of our health and energy systems. Prayer allows us to communicate with a Higher Being who can help us achieve emotional balance and stability. Prayer helps quiet down our minds to make us receptive to everything around us.

All the above methods of chakra cleansing are very important. However, it takes practice and a realization of your love for yourself and others before you can truly understand and use them for chakra cleansing. It is not necessary to use them all at the same time but it is recommended to start off with one or two or three and continue to add methodologies over time. Chakra cleansing is not achieved instantaneously, it is a constant and lifetime process (just like chakras are continually in motion) in order to achieve and maintain a healthy balance among all the elements involved.

Dream Journals and Astral Projection

by Rosalind Traycek

It is quite possible that you have had several astral projection in your lifetime, however you would only remember them as dreams. It is not only possible but highly likely that some of your more realistic dreams actually you taking an astral journey, or having an out of body experience.

The best way to learn how to astral project is to keep a dream journal or diary. We cannot begin to understand dreams until we begin to remember them. One of the most effective in interesting ways to achieve this is to keep dream diary.

I find it is best to have a notebook or pad by my bed at all times, this notepad is used only to record my dreams in and never leaves my bedside. No matter what time of the night I wake up at I can record my dreams straightaway and not risk losing them while I am looking for a pen and paper.

When you first wake up in the morning, you should close your eyes for a few seconds and try to remember some of your dreams. Dreams are just a series of different images, and by remembering just one or two you could trigger the entire sequence. If you find it difficult to remember a single image, try to remember your feelings during the dream. Were you happy, sad, angry, etc.

The first thing you should do every morning is to write in your dream diary, before you do anything else. Write down every single detail that you can remember, even if that doesn’t make sense to you, or you don’t think it is relevant. I suggest you begin by writing down the basic framework of the dream, the theme, and your feelings, and then include all the details as though you are writing a story.

The more regularly you write down your dreams the more associations you will be able to make. You will notice that particular people or objects will make regular appearances, or you may notice that you dream about the same place but with different people. You will also begin to notice patterns in your dreams, and associate these with your feelings at the time, such as stress, or happiness.

By keeping a full record of your dreams, you’ll be able to discover your own method of controlling out of body experiences. This is not something that you will acquire instantly, it requires practice and concentration, but will happen eventually.

The language of dreams is one of metaphor and symbol. The symbol may appear to be straightforward, other times it may also be completely confusing. The significance of these dream symbols ranges from person to person, and also within a person as they gain new experiences. It is these symbols and metaphors that you need to record in order to learn how to control your astral projection.

Healthy Life With Chakra Color Therapy

by Jonathan Benjem

It’s a traditional knowledge that human body contains a reservoir of energy deep within. The highly evolved souls propagate harnessing this energy in order to create the ideal living conditions in and around us. They abjure the idea of external help to restore normal body functioning. The theory that gained ground was Chakra balancing, i.e., synchronized movement of seven primary energy centers within the body, to improve all aspects of life (spiritual, emotional, and physical).

All the seven chakras have a color associated with them, which helps in synchronizing the movement of the respective Chakra. The use of colors in your efforts to strike a balance between their movements is referred to as Chakra Color Therapy.

Before discussing about the Chakra Color Therapy, a brief description of the primary chakras and their associated colors won’t be out of place:

1. The Root Chakra, or Muladhara, is located at the base of the spine. This chakra is associated with our basic survival needs, vitality, and courage. The associated color is Red, which is known for its qualities of vitality, and provides energy on all levels.

2. The Naval Chakra (or Svadhisthana), situated at the center of abdomen, is associated with emotions and sexuality. Orange is the color associated with this chakra, which empowers the body with self-confidence, feelings of success, and independence of thought.

3. The Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) is situated in the stomach region. This third chakra is associated with lending power, will and identity to the individual. The color associated with this chakra is Yellow. The attributes of Yellow color for the body include thought clarity and self-worthiness.

4. The Heart Chakra, or Anahata, is located in the center of the chest. This chakra is associated with love, compassion, and self-expression. The associated color is Green, which is known for its qualities of intimacy and forgiveness.

5. The Throat Chakra (or Vishuddha), situated at the base of the throat, is associated with communication, creativity, and resonance. Blue is the color associated with this chakra, which empowers the body with the sense of self-identification and clarity in communication.

6. The Brow Chakra (or Ajna), situated between the brows on the forehead, is associated with perception, intuition, and imagination. Indigo is the color associated with this chakra, which empowers the body with qualities, like visualization, understanding, and clear vision.

7. The Crown Chakra (or Sahasrara), situated on top of the head, is associated with consciousness, knowledge, and wisdom. Violet is the color associated with this chakra, which empowers the body with a sense of spiritual awareness and self-awareness.

The color associated with each Chakra can be used and incorporated in our lives to balance the dysfunctioning chakras. Chakra Color therapy can be used only after identifying the damaged chakras in the body, which are responsible for its abnormal functioning.

For the very first step, you can simply lie down, relax, and mull over all the events in the day in any order that is convenient to you. The experience of emotions related to each event will tell you the affected chakra. After identifying the problem chakra, it’s time for Color Breathing. It’s simple. Take all the seven colored cloth swatches besides you. Put the relevant colored cloth on the body part, which is represented by the affected chakra. Lie down, close your eyes, relax, take deep breaths, and simply visualize the absorption of the color by the affected body part for 5-10 minutes. Repeat this exercise if there are more affected chakras in the body.

Chakra Color Therapy is a healthy option for maintenance of chakra balance. For daily maintenance, just lie down and repeat the above process by placing the relevant colored swatches on the relevant body parts. 5-10 minutes should be sufficient to recharge your chakras and correct the imbalanced ones to give you a better life free of physical, emotional or spiritual ailment.

Chakra Energy Unleashed

by Jonathan Benjem

At the outset, let me share a secret that very few people in the world know (and if they know, they don’t acknowledge it!). All the human beings have a huge reservoir of energy, large enough to make sure that our physical and mental health always remains upbeat. This secret is a commonplace among large Hindu and Buddhist population in India and other parts of the world, for most Americans and Europeans, this is an invaluable piece of information, which they’d like to explore further.

This reservoir of energy is known as ‘Chakra Energy’. Chakras are the energy centers located in the upper half of the body. Though, there are thousands of Chakras in the entire human body, but primarily, there are just seven Chakras that dominate the overall health of the body. These are:

* Root or the Base Chakra (RED) located at the base of the spine, known as the coccyx.

* Spleen Chakra (ORANGE) located in the lower abdomen region, just below the navel.

* Solar Plexus Chakra (YELLOW) located in the stomach area.

* Heart Chakra (GREEN) situated in the center of the chest.

* Throat Chakra (BLUE) situated in the throat region.

* Brow Chakra (INDIGO) situated on the forehead.

* Crown Chakra (VIOLET) situated on top of the head.

Though invisible, these Chakras constantly and continuously rotate in the bodies at their stated positions. This movement is responsible for the production of energy, called Chakra Energy.

The movement of the Chakras has to be harmonious in order to produce the desired effect. Naturally, the movement of Chakra is in sync, but imbalance can occur due to several physical or emotional pressures. The remedy is simply to work towards the achievement of Chakra Balance through physical and metaphysical means.

So, what’s there to know about Chakra Energy? The entire Chakra System of the body is based on the spiritual side of our existence. It’s more a matter of feeling than sensing. You can say that Chakra System is a part of the sixth sense in your body. The energy produced by the Chakra System is responsible for blessing you with a healthy life or cursing you with an unhealthy one.

If the movement is in sync, the Chakras will produce sufficient energy to ensure physical and mental well being. However, if the movement is not in sync, the energy so produced will not be sufficient and it’ll invariably result in some body ailment.

Undoubtedly, Chakra Energy plays a decisive role in human lives, but is it possible to work around the Chakras and bring about a balance in their movements? Though Chakra movement is a natural phenomenon, yet you can direct your physical and spiritual energies towards attainment of Chakra balancing. Learning is an art and invariably, a slow process. But if your have determination and perseverance, it’s an achievable goal. The exercise is pretty simple. Firstly, just sit or lie down in the most comfortable posture with eyes closed. The next part is to relax and feel all the body parts from visible organs to the minutest cell within the body. Don’t avoid the distractions, like myriad thoughts. With time, they’ll disappear. Keep it going for about half-an-hour to any length of time for as many days as you can. You’ll surely feel the difference.

This may trigger a natural question, i.e., why this simple fact is largely unknown to the modern humans? The answer lies in the over-dependence on science and technology for even the basic human needs. Earth is sufficient to provide us with all the supplies needed for a healthy and peaceful existence. But the modern man has divided the control over the Earth’s blessings, resulting in constant struggle and over-dependence science to augment the supplies of even the basic necessities. Moreover, the thrust on technologically advanced gadgets has meant increasing drift from the spiritual aspect of life.

The best part of Chakra Energy is that it is always within your control. You just need a firm determination to balance the Chakra movements and in the process, ensure a healthy and contented existence, both in the physical as well as spiritual realm.

Know More About Our Chakra System

by Anne-Marie Laureaut

New Age philosophers and alternative medicine practitioners use the term Chakrology to illustrate the study of the human body’s energy points also known as the chakra system. It was the Ancient Hindus who first became aware of the existence of a chakra system in our being and used it for the practice of healing.

There are seven major energy centers among the several thousands that make up our chakra system. These seven major chakra points are the doorways of energy that we gather from our environment and surroundings (including other individuals) that make up the complete person that we are in terms of spirituality, physical and mental existence as a human being.

The active functions of the major chakras contribute individually to the totality of the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of our life. Each one of our seven energy centers with their own specific character is compatible to a unique feature of our being. They work in a continuous relationship with one another towards achieving balance in the human body and are not vying for ascendancy over another of the other chakra points.

Although there are various models of the human body’s chakra system they have one thing in common, all models depict an uncanny illustration of the human body’s endocrine system and how the various endocrine glands chemically signal and communicate to one another.

Generally, chakras are represented as being aligned in an ascending column from the base of the spine to the top of the head. New Age philosophers and practitioners on the other hand not only use the same description but take it one step further by claiming that each chakra is associated with a particular color for an easier understanding since particular colors have their own energy representations. Not surprisingly, the color representations of the major chakras are also the same colors of the color wheel, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet!

The significance and existence of chakras is primarily assumed to exist in our awareness (psyche). Nonetheless, there are advocates who firmly believe that chakras also have a physical manifestation and exist not just in the consciousness. Not without basis though as more and more study on the subject reveals what the Ancient Hindus and other Eastern Civilizations have claimed thousands of years ago: that there is a distinct and direct connection between the locations and performance/behavior of the chakras and of the endocrine glands of our body.

Our body’s energy centers play a very important role in our well being - both physically and spiritually.

An integral approach to taking care of our body is necessary in order to achieve total wellness. Considering that the nature of our chakra centers is a continuous interaction between themselves, the environment and our body, it can not be dissociated from the physical being simply because it can not be seen. Although this is the case, the physical manifestations of malfunction is very clear and concrete as each one of our energy centers affect certain parts of our physical and spiritual being.
