Showing Your Appreciation With A Gift Basket

by Pamela Kazmierczak

Have you ever wanted to show someone your appreciation, but were not sure how to go about it? There are many different gestures and gifts one can use to accomplish this. Personally, I have always found that giving a gift basket goes a long way to expressing genuine gratitude.

The reasons we are thankful can be endless. Our appreciation may come from small gestures that helped us, such as watering our plants or bringing in or mail while we were out of town, or bigger events such as being there for us in a real time of need, such as during bereavement. There is no formula to when we are thankful or when it is appropriate to show our heartfelt gratitude.

I choose to give gift baskets as thank you gifts because they come in so many different shapes, sizes and prices. As a bonus, there are already thank you gift baskets which exist just for this occasion. However, sometimes I choose a basket which suits the person I am giving it to instead of the reason.

Buying a thank you basket is a nice gesture, but sometimes we want to treat the person to the items they particularly like. A gourmet gift basket could be just what you are looking for. Many gourmet baskets contain items which a person would enjoy but may not go buy themselves on regular basis such as specialty cheeses and truffles, olives or coffee.

Another idea could depend upon their circumstances. If the recipient has a new child or grandchild or child on the way, a baby gift basket could be a wonderful thank you gift. It would certainly be something that they appreciate and it would be very useful as well. Baby gift baskets are among the most beautiful gift baskets on the market.

Gift baskets not only have wonderful items inside, but they also have the bonus of being beautifully put together. Sometimes presentation is the key when giving a gift and gift baskets will give off a better presentation then other gifts such as a gift card to a favorite store. Giving a gift basket shows that we took the time to hand pick out a present to show just how much we appreciate someone.

A gift basket can be bought in just about any price range that a buyer has in mind. Due to this they can be a perfect gift for any occasion, including giving thanks. Unlike other gifts, it will not be readily apparent just how much was spent, and because of the uniqueness or the beauty of the presentation itself the recipient will probably believe you spent more than you did.

When you need a tried and true method to show someone your gratitude, a gift basket is the way to go. You can buy a gift basket for anyone, no matter how wall you know them. If you know them well, you can select a basket based on their likes and dislikes. If you do not know them as well you can still purchase an appropriate basket that you are sure that they will enjoy. When it is time to show your appreciation to someone, consider a gift basket.

Baby Showers Made Simple

by Pamela Kazmierczak

Trying to throw a baby shower is far different than thinking back to the ones we attended or even the ones that were thrown for us. We have to consider what the mother to be wants and does not and make sure we plan the shower in a timely manner. This article will cover the basics of a baby shower.

The first question you may have may be just who can throw the shower? The answer really depends on how traditional the shower will be. If the guest list or the mother to be is on the conservative side than the shower should be thrown by close friends as traditionally when a shower was thrown by a family member it gave the appearance that the relatives of the mother to be were trying to get others to give the family gifts. However today that is mostly a non issue. Therefore the shower really can be thrown by anyone wishing to bring everyone together for this celebration.

Once the hostess’s are decided the next step is to determine the guest list. The number of guests will depend upon the atmosphere in which you are trying to create. A large shower is better for a more party like celebration, but if you are looking to throw a shower that is intimate and which allows the guest of honor ample time with each guest the shower list should not exceed 25 people. Close family and friends on both sides should be invited. You should also consult the mother to be if there is anyone else she wants there as well as anyone who she does not feel comfortable inviting.

Another thing to consider is whether or not you want to have traditional women only party or if this couple would prefer a more modern co-ed party. Parenting itself has become less about the mother and more about the parental unit and so some people are following suit when planning baby showers. If you decide to venture into co-ed land be sure to plan the party for both sexes. Translation: Lay off the pink. Whereas a traditional baby shower is full of pastel colors and pretty favors a co-ed is less like a shower and more like a party. You can still do baby themed decorations but you will need to alter activities, games, decorations and food choices to accommodate both sexes.

If the couple wants something in between the traditional and the modern you might consider two parties, one a traditional baby shower and the other a dinner or activity for the men. The woman’s shower would not be affected by the men’s festivities but the new father to be will still be able to celebrate in his own way with his male family and friends.

Now that we know what type of party is being thrown, who is throwing it and who is being invited it is time to decide when it will be. An ideal time for a baby shower is near the end of the sixth month through the beginning of the eighth month. This will ensure that the mother to be will have a small chance of going into labor before the party. This will also help the expecting parents know what they do and do not have in time to finish shopping and to put all the baby’s new things in place before the arrival.

Now it is time to choose the invitations. The invitations can be of any design, but if the parents have chosen a theme for the nursery the invitations should follow that theme. The invitations should be sent out with the guest of honor’s name, the hostesses name and number, the location, date, and time of the party, a date to RSVP by, a map to the shower as well as a list of any of the stores the parents may be registered at.

Now that all preparations have been completed it is time to look forward to the shower. A baby shower can run anywhere from 2-4 hours, but should not be any longer. The beginning is usually when the hostess and the guest of honor will thank each guest for coming. During the period of everyone’s arrival is usually time for people to mingle. After everyone is there some sort of food is usually served, either a sit down meal like a brunch or a variety of finger foods and desserts. After the food you may choose to play a couple of games, but of course this is not mandatory. Finally, the guest of honor gets to open her presents. As the hostess besides providing the party and the food, you may also want to buy door prizes, prizes for the baby shower games and party favors.

There you have it, the basics of throwing a successful shower.

Buying A Baby Gift Basket, The Ideal Baby Shower Present

by Pamela Kazmierczak

Have you ever wanted to get the perfect gift for a mother to be but were unsure how to do so? Do you want to be brave and skip using the baby registry, but want to ensure the new parents will still love the present they are to receive? If you want to provide a more unique present than everyone else you should consider a baby gift basket.

When a mother to be finds out that parenthood is on the horizon sometimes she goes a little overboard on the shopping. And who would blame her? All of the adorable clothes, the soft plush blankies, the baby shoes that she envisions her new bindle of joy taking their first steps in, well, it is hard to resist. Then to top it off she may ever complete a registry, asking for all the things she had not had the time to buy yet. How do you buy a gift that she is sure to love and not already have in triplicate?

A baby gift basket is a unique and creative present, one which was not on any registry nor is it something that the parents to be would of bought for themselves. A gift basket also is wonderful as they have multiple gifts in them so even if the new baby already has a dozen blankets the basket may offer something they do not have an abundance of.

As with everything else, there are more and more infant and baby products on the market today. The choices almost seem endless. If you are looking for themed baskets they are available in many styles including a household favorite of infants and toddlers everywhere, Elmo. An Elmo baby gift basket can be a perfect gift for any shower or welcome home gift.

Another popular gift basket theme is animals. Sometimes parents pick a certain animal as a theme, popular ones include ducks and lambs, and other times they like all animals to be present in the nursery in the form of clothing, wall art and stuffed animals. Why not emphasize that choice by giving them a gift basket which revolves around that theme?

We do not always buy just for the baby shower, but sometimes we give our gift after the baby is already here. If this is the case, there may be a special set of circumstances to consider. For instance, if the baby arrived early we may want to consider buying a gift basket made especially for preemies. If the parents had twins we may want to buy a gift basket for twins, instead one just for a single child.

Another thing to consider is not just the cuteness factor, which of course should always be considered because the cuter the happier the new mom may be, but also the functionality of the gift. Baby gift baskets do come in many shapes and sizes and what is inside also varies from basket to basket. Some items in gift baskets could include clothing, bibs, blankets, stuffed animals, baby care items and keepsakes. When deciding which basket to buy, it is a good idea to think about what you want to give. Is this present purely whimsical, toys and keepsakes to enjoy, or do you need more function like blankets and bath items.

When buying a baby gift basket it really does not matter how well you know the recipients. Parents who are family members or close friends will appreciate the gesture as much as simple acquaintances. Another good thing about gift baskets is that they come in so many different themes and price ranges; they are really the perfect gift for any occasion, whether it is the baby shower, a welcome home present or even for the little one’s first birthday party.
