Avoiding Internet Scams When Searching For A Job

by David Gates

Anyone searching for a job that they can do from their own home has gone through the following: You do a search on a legitimate site for something you are perfectly qualified for. The results? Four hundred obvious home business scams.

Anyone with any common sense can basically ignore them all, so it was only a matter of time before the scammers found a simple way to work around it. They do this simply by making the job look official all the way until you send them your resume.

You will know it is a scam after you receive a quick reply since the scammers cannot afford to waste any time. How will you know? Because you will receive an offer to complete little or no work in exchange for an incredible amount of money. It will look nothing like the job you originally applied for.

So what can you, the intelligent job searcher do? The answers are simple.

The best thing to do is to email the company for more information before you apply. Their response is typically transparent as a spring-fed lake. If you do think sending your resume in is a good idea, at least remove any unnecessary contact information such as your address or personal phone numbers.

The only information the company needs on your initial resume is your e-mail address and name. If you are qualified for a position with a legitimate company, they will know by the relevant information, such as your job history, and have no need for any personal information until the position is accepted.

It makes no sense that anyone who initially was going to take an at home job for 9 dollars an hour would really believe they could do the same thing for a hundred times that amount. One has to wonder how many people actually are suckered into these home business scams.

Another obvious scam is to solicit money from you in order for you to make a ton of money back. This should automatically send up red flags. Even if the website looks completely normal, do not let your guard down as you never know when a scam will find you.

Finally, remember the old saying that never loses any relevance: If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. We all know that you have to work to make money, and working at home is no exception. It’s up to us to make sure the perpetrators of home business scams don’t waste our time and energy.

Home Business Scams

by David Gates

Have you thought about starting a stay-at-home business so that you can make money and still stay home with your children? Although there are great opportunities and amazing stories of success, many scams and fraudulent claims also exist. This article will give you some factors to consider before embarking on a home-based business.

Remember that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is! You would be shocked at how many smart individuals have fallen victim to scam artists. Watch out for business opportunities promising lots of money in a short time with little work.

One of the most common types of scams is the pyramid scheme business. Thankfully, these companies are illegal in many areas. The pyramid scheme encourages their members to recruit others to join the pyramid by paying money to the company. You do not actually make money by selling a product; you make money by recruiting. Since most people are only able to recruit so many others, only the people at the top of the pyramid actually see any real money. Sadly, the majority never make money from this type of business. Avoid the pyramid scheme at all cost!

Stuffing envelopes and home assembly programs are two other scams that have lured many unknowing participants. These two will be discussed together because they have both existed for many years, but you can still find their ads in popular sources like magazines and news publications. Few people actually make money from stuffing envelopes; in fact, I know some who have tried this business. These people paid the requisite fees, followed the directions, and were subsequently told that their work was of poor quality.

Claims that sound way too good to be based on truth are most likely not. Usually, these companies require you to send money to purchase supplies; you put the given products together, and then mail the finished piece to the business. The company then typically says that you put the product together incorrectly, and you ultimately are not paid. The company is the sole judge of the products quality, so you are unable to recoup any funds that have been lost.

Outlandish claims on a Home Based Business site claiming you will make thousands of dollars in a short time period working from home are sure signs of a scam. Can this be reality? Unfortunately, it just isnt possible. It is possible to make money with a home based business due to a large internet audience, but you must heavily research these possibilities before jumping headfirst into a scam.

Many of these businesses are legitimate; this is especially true in the area of Internet Marketing. I myself have taken part in such opportunities with some success. Unfortunately, most internet sites like this are only out there to take money from you. The advertisements are written by very talented copy-writers. These people have been trained to use certain words and graphics to convince you to buy into anything and everything.

Look for the proof that they can back up their claims. You read an extremely vague ad. You haven’t a clue what the business is about, but boy, could you be making the bucks! Read through the lines and the fine print you will probably find that it’s another home business scam. Do your research. There are great opportunities out there, but they are easily lost in the swarm of sites that are intended merely to scam you.

Too Good To Be True?….scam

by David Gates

The number of home business opportunities (aka scams) that were bombarded with today is astoundingespecially given the state of our economy. Unfortunately, I became a victim to one myself since I lost my job several months ago and was feeling the pressure of not having a regular paycheck. Ive since decided to investigate the legitimacy of these jobs as theyre listed on so many job listings.

Most jobs that can be performed at home involved data entry to taking orders through your home phone line for other companies. The opportunity looks great, promises lots of money, and many even back up their claims with a guarantee. Thats what convinced me; if I wasnt satisfied Id simply get my money back.

I examined several opportunities quite thoroughly, trying to avoid the ads that simply sold software that taught me how to make money and focused on those that made me an employee and had specific instructions on pulling information from a website and enter into the forms provided. It seemed foolproof.

Again, there was the guarantee. If I wasnt happy, Id get all of my money back and besides, I was also getting a special deal since I was one of the first 100 people to respond. What I got versus what was promised was completely different. I had no longer entered my personal information, including my credit card data, when I realized Id become a statistic: Id been scammed.

My job was to promote credit cards. I was to get their name on hundreds of search engines and others sites like \”FaceBook\”. I had not been told that a condition of being paid included my having to apply for several credit cards. On top of that, I also had to be applied by them to get my $20 pay from my employer. Then, I was told that another requirement was that I had to make $500 first or I couldnt get the $20 per credit card.

I was not eligible to receive any money until I generated leads for them. It always seemed to be some reasoning for them not to pay. There is no help forum or any way to contact them except through email which rarely received replies. When there were replies they were automatically generated and rarely ansered the question asked.

I asked for the money-back guarantee multiple times. The only way I even reached them was through a phone number listed on my credit card bill (in Australia) and of course those calls werent returned either. I ended up filing a complaint through my credit card issuer and Im still waiting for it to be resolved.

I am utterly humiliated to have fallen for such a con. I am college educated with several degrees. Desperation will cloud one’s mind and lower defenses. I have no problem working hard for my money and did not count on it being \”easy\” money. I just assumed you only would make as much as hard as you worked whether it was three hours a day to 10 hours. I write this to remind others as well as myself the sound advice that if it looks to good to be true it most likely is.

Ebay Selling: Fast Cash Now And New Income Later

by David Gates

In these hard economic times, many of us are looking for a way to make extra money. You’ve thought about that entire inventory of items you have that you’ve purchased during better times. How can you convert them into extra cash? You can start a home business on eBay. But first, let me tell you that you are going to \”graduate\” on to a much better way of making money with eBay. I’ll tell you about that in a minute.

Most people hear this and are tempted to jump right in with both feet. However, make sure you take the time to appraise your inventory. You may search your house and find outgrown clothes, designer shoes, or high-tech gadgets. Researching how and where your items will best sell is crucial to amplify your income. Spend time finding the right information before you start selling if you really want it to work.

Start by looking up your items by the item name or brand name in the search bar at eBay. You can scan over how much people are willing to pay for your items and get an idea of how much to list them for. Your jaw may drop when you see how much people are willing to pay for your useless junk.

Another good approach is to type your brand name into any one of the many popular search engines. You’ll come up with a wealth of information on the products: what to pay, how to spot fakes, where to buy wholesale and much more.

One popular saying declares that resellers do not make their profit when they sell an item, but rather when they purchase it. Your closet clutter will not last forever so look into wholesale sources before you need to take advantage of them. Having the right information is imperative to keeping an Internet home business up and running.

Consider each listing of your personal items a practice run. Take time to research the best way to make money off of your inventory. Use what you see successful sellers do to help you create listing descriptions and starting prices. Let every failure be a learning lesson of what not to do in the future.

After selling a few items, do not be discouraged if you realize that traditional Internet auctions are not working for you. If you find yourself dreading another trip to the post office or not being able to live comfortably with your inventory scattered around every room, consider using a company that can assist you in producing a webpage and drop ship your items from their warehouse. Information items that can be sold repeatedly might be another avenue for you as well. You can change your settings to where eBay automatically lists the item each time it sells. From the comfort of your computer chair, you can refresh your bank account and watch it grow as eBay earns money for you.

These difficult times can bring out the creativity in all of us. They can lead us down career paths we never considered. Whatever you decide to do just remember, You can make an Internet home business work, but you have to start with the right information.
