Mascots around the world are used for similar events in most countries. Almost all countries utilize mascots for some if not all of their sporting events. Mascots do differ around the world and can be used for very different types of events. Several countries around the world have festivals and parades that are indigenous to particular areas of the globe. Tropical places like Jamaica, Trinidad, and many West Indies islands have parades and carnivals. They have parades to celebrate tribal people. Sometimes troops of people from many countries including the United States and the UK will dress up in exotic outfits our “tribalwear” and act as mascots for the events. Many of the costumes are very ornate involving a lot of beadwork, face paint, and sometimes bikini or loin cloth style outfits. The outfits come in an array of beautiful colors and contribute to a festive feel for the event. These human mascots can either walk or dance in parades, or visit with people who come to watch the parades. They are very interactive with the crowds and do this as a profession. Many undergo classes that teach them the art of being a mascot. Some are indigenous to their own country, while many troops travel to different carnivals and parades to perform as mascots around the world.

Mascots that are Meaningful to Multiple Countries

It may be hard to believe that there are mascots that are meaningful to multiple countries. Some may have the same mascots, but maybe a different style of the same mascot. An example of this is Ronald McDonald. Many countries such as China and France use him as a mascot for the McDonald’s Restaurant. However, the style that is used may be very different that of the United States. France has recently run commercials of both a young woman and a young man dressed up in modern fashion that still resembles the clown’s outfit. China recently featured a cartoon version of some of the McDonald’s characters in cartoon form using Chinese children in the background.

Also, the Olympics are a time when the whole world shares mascots in like kind. The 2010 Olympics that are to be held in Canada already feature three mascots that will be shared globally: Miga, Quatchi, and Sumi. The characters are patterned after Japanese anime styling.

Are there Specific Laws and/or Regulations for reality TV Shows

When participants sign on to be a part of a reality TV show, they sign contracts and are then bound by the terms of the contract. If the participants violate the terms of the contract, then they risk being kicked off of the show. This is what binds the participant. However, there are laws and regulations which govern reality TV shows. This may be hard to believe since many reality TV shows seem cutthroat, but contestants are aware of the type of TV show they are taking part in and they agree to such treatment in their contracts because that is what makes the show interesting.

The FCC regulates what we see on TV, but the shows are prohibited from rigging of any kind, exploiting children, and other such things as nudity and language that are not censored. Those are your standard FCC regulations. However, there have been statements that have claimed that the show Survivor is not subject to game show regulations set forth by the FCC.

Such rules set forth by the FCC involve the Prime Time Access Rule and the Financial Interest and Syndication Rules, which has a large effect on game shows. What the first rule does is give total control of a certain time slot to a local station to do what they please and the second rule gives the producers limited ownership of a program after its initial run. However, these rules don’t really interest the public. What interests the public are the censorship rules.

Regarding the claim that Survivor is not subject to the game show regulations of the FCC is contradictory to what the show has claimed. The FCC rules are mostly effective in the areas of censorship and making sure that there is no rigging going on although the above applies as well. They say that reality shows do not leave much room to cheat anyway despite what some may believe. If the FCC caught reality shows rigging, the reality shows would be severely fined. If the contestants found out that the shows were being rigged, then the shows would be facing numerous lawsuits.

Lessons were learned many years ago from such shows as Quiz Show where the producers were feeding the questions and the answers to the contestants before they went on the show. If the audience loved a particular contestant, the producers wanted to make sure that contestant stuck around for a while. Once the ratings would fall, the process would start all over again so that the audience would once again fall in love with a particular contestant.

However, when we look at the reality shows of today, we may absolutely enjoy a particular contestant for them to get voted off. That hardly constitutes any type of rigging because the show is risking viewership if a beloved contestant is gone. The FCC regulates how these shows conduct themselves and they make sure that everything is done fairly to the best of their ability because, if the show is found out, the show risks everything, including their reputation. If they risk their reputation, then they lose viewership. When a show loses viewership, they are then taken off of the air and placed into syndication if they’re lucky. Some reality shows have been on the air for so long that it would be a shame for such things to happen, but scandal does occur and solutions must be reached. However, sometimes it is the scandal that brings even more viewers to a show than ever before. But if the show is deceiving their viewers, then viewers feel violated.

Steel is very sturdy and is, in fact, stronger than wood. It is more likely to withstand an environmental catastrophe while experiencing less damage than a wood structure. So as you can see, steel buildings present a wonderful alternative. For those concerned with the environment, steel is 66% recyclable. This is another reason that makes them a better alternative to wood. Take this into consideration: A home of 2000 square feet uses the wood from approximately 50 trees. A building constructed of wood may not use that many trees, but it is certainly enough. Erecting a steel building will not only give you an environmentally friendly alternative, but a much sturdier and safer alternative that you can have confidence in.

English Lessons: How to Diagram a Sentence

The structure of a sentence is very important when trying to learn english because words in different sequences can mean different things, although the words are the same. That is why it is important to place each part of the sentence in the correct place so that what you are trying to say is not perceived to be something else. If you have ever received instructions from someone and followed them just as they said them and then they come back to you later and tell you that you did not follow their directions, this can be quite confusing. And no matter what you tell that person, they are not going to believe that they were not clear because they knew what it was they were trying to tell you. It is important to look out for this, but it is also important that you know how to send your own messages, whether it is in writing or speaking.

The sentence

There are several parts to a sentence such as the subject, the verb, and what we call modifiers. Let’s just say you’re given the simple sentence, “People should laugh.” The word should is called a modal auxiliary verb. This means that you are going to draw a straight line and write the sentence on the line. You are then going to draw a vertical line between people and should. Since should is a modal auxiliary verb, it is categorized with the verb “laugh.” What this diagram does is separate the subject from the verb.

Now let us expand the sentence to “Some people should laugh.” This can make it a little trickier because you have an additional word at the beginning that is not the subject, but you still have your subject and your verb present. So what you are going to do is keep your vertical line with the sentence written on the line and the line drawn between the words people and should. You are then going to draw a slanted line connecting to the horizontal line the sentence is written on to the left of the word people, but it will slanting downward like a sliding board. This is where you’re going to write the word some because it is an adjective. Since it modifies the word people, it is considered a modifier and modifiers go on the slanted line.

Another example

To get a little more complicated, the sentence “The smartest people will be laughing,” is a good one to diagram. Of course you know the subject and the noun in the sentence is the word people, the adjective is the word smartest, and the verb is laughing. However, this sentence is in the future tense because the people are not currently laughing, but they will be laughing.

So you’re going to draw your horizontal line and write “people will be laughing” just like you did in the first example. You will draw your vertical line between the words people and will. The word the is called a definite article and it will be written on a slanted line to the left of the word people. The word smartest is an adjective and it is also written on a slanted line, but it is done so at the right of the word people.

These two examples are the basics of diagramming a sentence. Of course sentences get more complicated and require more slants and lines. A good example is a predicate nominative, which is a noun that follows a linking verb such as the word is. This means a slant to the left at the top of the horizontal line will be present between the word is and the noun. These are great things to know and will help you to learn english effectively.

First of all, the show announces that it is accepting applications that can be requested through the website and they usually request a photo and a three minute video be mailed in that introduces you to the producers. If they like you, they will call you in for a Hollywood interview, but don’t expect them to pay your travel expenses. That comes later if you make it to the semi-finals.

It is important to know that it is not easy and that it is not an act. When these people are miserable, they are miserable. When it is raining and they are muddy, they didn’t go and splash the mud on themselves. When a contestant walks into the ocean naked, they are literally walking into the ocean naked. All inhibitions are put aside in desperate situations and that is something that needs to be realized when filling out the participant application. It is also important to be creative in the application process and get the attention of the producers. If the producers ask what three things you would take on the island with you, “shelter, food, and water” are certainly not the correct answers.
