Acupuncture, The Alternative Medicine

by Dana Drewer

Acupuncture is an ancient chinese method of healing. It has been around for over 2000 years, and is still being used, now, as an accepted alternative medical practice. This wasn’t always so. In 1972 then President Nixon made a trip to China and acupuncture was “Discovered” by the western world and news of its great uses was becoming known.

Acupuncture is based on the 12 invisible lines of energy that run through the body. These lines of energy or meridians, allow the flow of energy throughout the body. If a line should become blocked, they are believed to cause illnesses such as a disease.

When these meridians or lines become blocked the flow of chE can not be acheived as natural designed in the body. People with this knowledge called acupuncturists would insert small stainless steel needles into specific sensors in the body. This would unclog the flow of chE.

This is known as “needle piercing”. Acupuncture stimulates these points in the body and can include additional things such as heat, friction, suction and electromagnetic energy to improve blood circulation and healing.

There is an endless list of ways acupuncture can be used to relieve pain, aid in weight loss, ease arthritis pain and help in the field of fertility.

Medical science has only begun to accept acupuncture as a true medical field. Over the last 40 years acupuncture has begun to have more believers in the west than previously thought. The Chinese with their centuries of education and skill at acupuncture behind them have always known that it is a necessary and useful therapy.

Today acupuncture is a recognized medical field and there are licensed professionals that can aid in your medical care. Some patients have stated that with the use of acupuncture, they could reduce the amount of pain medication they required. This is a great development for the medical community, to be able to reduce medications for their patients, which will reduce side effects that their patients need to worry about.

As acupuncture is now a recognized medical field, acupuncturist will need to be licensed in the state they practice. When looking for a licensed acupuncturist, you should make sure they are licensed with the local medical association.

This addition to the therapy prescribed can greatly enhance your ability to recover quicker.

Using Long-Term Care Insurance with Reverse Mortgages

by Terry Stanfield

As individuals age, the question of how to pay for their expenses in the troubling situation where they cannot take care of themselves comes up. Millions of seniors across America are beginning to look at the future and the possibility their children will have to pay the costs of their care, and some are doing something about it. Typically, it will come down to two choices for seniors. They can either go with long-term care insurance policies that will help keep them afloat financially while they are getting long-term care. The other option is they can look into a reverse mortgage to help finance their needs. The options of a reverse mortgage and long-term care insurance are becoming the two main ways seniors are paying for their own long-term care.

A reverse mortgage is a loan that is made to individuals 62 years and over in the United States, which is used to release home equity on a property in one large lump sum, or multiple payments. The homeowner is not obligated to repay the loan until they die, the home is sold or they leave into a nursing home.

For a typical mortgage, the owner of the house will pay a monthly payment to the lender, whereas in a reverse mortgage, the home owner makes no payments and all interest is added to the lien on the property. Now, it may seem odd that there are no payments on the reverse mortgage, but the way that the loan is paid off is that if the home owner moves, goes into a nursing home or dies, is from the proceeds in the sale of the house, or in the event the heirs refinance the estate of the homeowner. If the proceeds of the sale exceed the amount of the loan, the owner of the house gets the difference. In the case of the heirs, they would receive the difference. If the sale does not pay off the loan, then the bank will absorb the difference.

This option is becoming very popular with some seniors when they have to choose between reverse mortgages and long-term care insurance because they get a lot of the money upfront, which can then be applied to savings. The draw back is that it could severely effect the inheritance that you may want to leave behind. Long-term care insurance is an inexpensive way to insure that your family is taken care of.

Conclusion For many seniors, the possibility of their children paying out of their own pocket to take care of them is simply too much to bear. As a result, seniors will look at the options of reverse mortgages and long-term care insurance to find a way that they can pay their own way through either a loan or a government program. In the case of reverse mortgages, they will be able to get a loan that they will not have to pay back until they die or move, and even then the loan is paid off on the sale of the home. This allows them to get the money up front to help pay for their own long-term care at home. It is of little surprise it has become such a popular trend for seniors looking for a way to pay their own way.

How to clench your jaw, grind your teeth and make loud sounds?

by Christian Goodman

What relation does the neck or tongue have with tooth grinding, jaw clenching or even snoring? Why am I recommending throat exercise for TMJ and for snoring the jaw exercises?

It really doesn’t make any sense, isn’t it ?

Wouldn’t you focus entirely on the back if you had backache? Or the head if you had headache? And of course for high blood pressure, all you want to do is lower your blood pressure, right?

I think that the traditional health system is been ruined by this type of approach.

No muscle is an island, neither is a nerve, bone or a limp. Every cell in our body is connected to every other cell in our body. After all, every single cell (millions of them) in our body has the exact same DNA structure, but NO cell outside our body has that exact DNA structure.

Isn’t that amazing? (maybe I’m getting a little head of myself).

Lastly, our body does works in equilibrium. I took my 8 years old daughter today to see the chiropractor. He told me that one of her legs appears to be a little short than the other. When he adjusted it, both of her leg were in equilibrium. So there is no problem at all.

…because we treated it in time!

He said it often happens in every kids games. She probably didn’t notice anything or years. But she was not carrying her body in the right fashion. She would have started to put on wrong weights on to a wrong muscle and bones.

Maybe after attaining the age of 30, 40 or 50 years - she might start to experience knee, back, hip or even neck problems, headaches and even TMJ.

It is rather very likely that something similar might have been occurred to you when you were a kid. It actually happens to most of us. Even the very small issues tends to set our body out of balance. It might not be big might be not noticeable. But slowly and steadily we do add on to it.

And one day, the pressure is too much and something gives in.

We generally do not fall sick out of the blue, unless there we face an accident. There is something that kept on brewing below. Maybe for years.

So that brings me back to my original question…

“Why do I recommend exercising muscles that have nothing to do with the problem area?”

Taking TMJ for example. TMJ is a condition where the jaw joints are dislocated or are not in position which causes tension in the jaw muscles. This results in to a horrible headache, drowsiness, blurry vision, inability to eat or talk and many other hundred of symptoms. TMJ cases are usually not the same.

But the solution to the problem is always the same…

I do recommend the special Jaw, Tongue ,Throat and Neck exercises.

Now it’s quite obvious to answer as to why do I always recommend the jaw exercises. By strengthening and loosening up the jaws muscles, these muscles often guides the jaw into its healthy natural position.

But why I also recommend throat exercises?

As the muscles present around the throat are directly connected to the jaw muscles. It is same in the case of the tongue muscle and of course the neck muscles. So, if you do not start to strengthen these muscles, then their tension will always pull the jaw muscles and try to avoid it from becoming healthy muscles.

The exercise for TMJ is the same as in my stop snoring program. The reason for the same type of exercise for different conditions is that as it occurs in the same area. So, it is important to loosen up the throat muscles in order to make the jaw muscles functional and it is also very important to loosen the jaw muscles in order to make the throat muscles functional and open the throat which leads to cure snoring.

I take this as an example. I always focus on the body as a whole, no matter what condition I’m dealing with. To cure migraine you must train yourself to breath deeply. You must also make sure the muscles controlling your breathing are strong and flexible.

You should always aim big.

As each and every person does affect one another, next to each other, every cell, muscle, bone and nerve affects the object next to it. As long as they are having the same DNA structure (belongs to you), you should look after them.

Where To Buy Cheap PSP Games Online

by Tim J Daniels

Even though the tradition has always been to buy PSP downloads and accessories in the offline world, millions of gamers are now realizing the amazing benefits of getting hold of all their downloads online. The reason is because the best PSP websites offer incredible discounts on literally millions of downloads.

If you want to download the most popular games on the market there are around twenty reputable companies that will offer you this service. Some are better than others but what you really need to watch out for are the rogue websites that are taking advantage of the current popularity of the market. I’ll explain how to avoid them in a moment.

Evidently, having access to the best games from the comfort of your own home is a huge advantage that has attracted millions of users over the last few months. In fact, I’m certain that the sales of the PSP device itself have rocked because of it. Sony must be thrilled. Nintendo probably aren’t!

If you pull up Google and search for cheap PSP game downloads, you’ll come across hundreds of sites claiming to offer the best deals around. Some of them even claim to have an unlimited free download service where you don’t even have to pay to access the material. Most of the time, this isn’t true.

In most cases it’s simply false advertising designed to get you to visit the site in the hope that you’ll eventually be convinced to make a purchase. However, some of the better known websites really do offer an ‘almost’ free download service. This entails paying a flat one time fee of between $30 and $50 for unlimited access to all the music, movies games and videos in their database.

Now, just to be clear, this is a one time fee. If you go to one of the most popular websites you will not get charged more than once. You pay once and will immediately be redirected to the download pages where you can get hold of as much stuff as you desire and in most cases this will mean access to over 20 million separate downloads. If you think how much you’ll save in the long run, it really is an amazing deal.

In my opinion, it’s an amazing deal but just be slightly wary before you start downloading. Many of the downloads in the fake sites are packed with viruses. Make sure the site is reputable and that they have a comprehensive contact or business information page which explains their license in comprehensive detail.

So be sure to take advantage of these deals and download as many games, movies and music as you wish. Happy gaming!

Arabica Coffee Beans are Mild

by Charlie Reese

The Father of All Beans: Arabica Coffee Beans

Arabica coffee beans originated from Yemen and Ethiopia. It is the first genus of coffee that was cultivated; it has been growing in southwest Arabia for about a thousand years now. Arabica coffee beans are considered the best in the world; better than any other coffee bean produced anywhere.

The Pope and the Pot

Europe being the civilized society as it was back in the seventeenth century, aided in the rise of Arabica coffee beans’ popularity. Unfortunately due to the fact that Arabica coffee beans come from Moslem countries made Rome a little bit irked at the fact that it was so popular.

So Pope Clement VIII, a bit wary of the Moslem religion’s sudden surge of popularity wanted to make coffee into a drink that was Christian. He wisely tried a pot of coffee, and despite the opposition of his advisors he blessed the Arabica coffee beans concoction and made it a Christian brew.

The Revolution and the Arabica

Coffee houses in America were born when Dorothy Jones was first licensed to sell Arabica coffee beans to the colonies. It was in the coffee houses that the declaration of independence was first read. The Boston Tea Party was held in a coffee house, and that’s where revolutionaries met. Even the first continental congress was given birth in a coffee house.

After all those historical events America and the Arabica coffee beans began their love affair. Throughout the centuries coffee has held its own in America. It is the primary ration of soldiers during the war and when their supplies were a bit short they would mix it with chicory.

Arabica Coffee Beans Today

Arabica Coffee beans’ journey to Brazil, to become famous in America is as amorous as the drink itself. A clever Don enlisted the aide of a French Governor’s wife stationed in Guiana. Don Francisco smuggled the beans inside a bouquet his lover gave him as she bid him farewell in the docks of the islands.

Today however, the possibility of coffee shortage and having to smuggle it is unfathomable. The Americans are rediscovering the glories of coffee due to the rising popularity of coffee shops. Now coffee is not as simple as it was in the past. It is no longer simply black or white.

Applauding only the Arabica blend is unfair. It contemporaries is equally good as well, depending upon a person’s preference. Aside from Arabica coffee beans there are the other two varieties, the Liberica and the Robusta.

The Liberica came from the lowlands of Liberia. It is mainly cultivated in Malaysia, Philippines and Java. Among the three types of coffee beans it has the poorest flavor, however it is the hardiest and disease free of them all. It is simply good for blending and it’s not of export quality.

Robusta on the other hand was discovered in the jungles of Belgium Congo. It is hardy and produces multiple crops in a year. It is best made into instant coffee, which lent Robusta its popularity. But unlike the Arabica Robusta does not have the aroma and flavor of richness.

Mickey Mouse Club Still Resonates with Baby Boomers

by Steve Collins

Those who were teens in the 1950’s remember with fondness coming home from school in the latter years of the 50’s to watch Walt Disney Studios’ Mickey Mouse Club. The second television show offered by Disney, The Mickey Mouse Club was televised in part to help finance the creation of the Disneyland theme park. From 5:00-6:00 in its first two seasons and from 5:00-5:30 in its last two, American teens were glued to the television.

The style was that of a variety show hosted by Jimmie Dodd who, incidentally, came up with the creative idea for the cast members to wear Mickey Mouse ears. The series featured a cast of teenagers who signed on to each episode with the peppy Mouseketeer Roll Call. The most beloved cast member by far was Annette Funicello. The show contained a mix of newsreels, talent features, cartoons, musical numbers, and serials, among them Spin and Marty, The Hardy Boys, and Corky and White Shadow.

Every day had a unique theme. Monday was “Fun with Music”; Tuesday featured a guest star; Wednesday brought “Anything Can Happen Day”; Thursdays utilized a circus theme, and Friday concluded the week with a Talent Round-up. The tunes were catchy, the kids were wholesome, and the message to teens of the fifties stayed with them through the years.

Though it only lasted four seasons, its fans never forgot it, and it was the Baby Boomers’ loving memories of the show that inspired its reruns from 1975 to 1977 and the eventual development of the All New Mickey Mouse Club in January 1977. It, too, continued the idea of themed weekdays remixed to a disco beat. The new show did not catch on with 70’s teens, however, and the show quietly faded away.

A 1990’s revival did much better. It carried the same title as the first revival, but was nicknamed MMC. Produced with a live audience in Orlando, the show employed a mixed race cast. Famous “graduates” of the MMC, which debuted in 1989 and continued in reruns until 1996, included pop stars Christine Aguilera, Britney Spears, and Justin Timberlake.

The original Mickey Mouse Club stands as a excellent example of what programming for older children could aspire to. Wholesome, fun, and educational, modern television producers could take a few lessons from it.
